King ... is too nice a word

to describe the wanna-be mob boss who has weaseled his way into our highest government position.  Be that as it may, the last time Americans suffered taxation without representation it did not go well for the culprits.  While the patriots in positions to protect our constitution from its on-going ravages put their heads together to form an effective legal strategy for our country's salvation, we, the alarmed constituency, must become front-line troops defending the institutions under fiscal attack.  Until we do, our hijacked federal government does not HAVE our back, but gleefully shoots us IN it.

Those of us best equipped to fight must do so.  Fight in the way that even a head of state with very limited capacity for complex problem-solving can understand—through financial power. There is a demographic most prepared to wage this campaign.  It is the same demographic that over its decades of growth under wise democratic leadership has built its resources in cash reserves, equity, and even precious time availability.  It has collectively achieved the prosperity that gives it the collective CLOUT needed to fight greedy individuals, corporations, and organizations bent on putting an end to democratically-decided societal change.  This illustrious group is the baby boomers, aka boomers.  As such, I hereby dub this campaign the Big Boom.  Seems an especially appropriate brainchild from an astrophysicist by education.

Although technically I fall shy of classifying as a true baby boomer by that term's original definition. B
eing over 50 with gray in the remains of my hair I have definitely been insulted with the label “boomer” by playful youngsters. Instead of shunning that previously annoying label I will enlist under it, to become the proud founding member of what I hope will become a social movement.  I am happy to be the first spokesperson for its cause.  In that role I share the vision that drove our founding founders to trade convenience, comfort, certainty, and security for cause and country.  The groundwork they laid, that has guided our society for approaching 300 years, is now under assault by powerful corrupting forces.  Their strategy for conquest over our precious democratic institutions, when not pure unadulterated malfeasance, is an even more pernicious gaming of the constitutional safeguards in place to protect Americans from such threats.  Perhaps their most useful tool has been our sense of helpless complacency.  We were not prepared for the change in our lives required to react as a force.

Not  seeing the value of dumping money into political campaigns, I have learned not to put my money there.  Democracy should not involve buying votes with expensive advertising.  Facts should guide voters in their decisions.  Then their vote will be the only contribution required in a successful campaign.  The institutions required for factually informing the masses is where we must put our money.  Without truth-based knowledge an electorate cannot rely upon a democratic result to produce the most beneficial results for them. Therefore where we must start our belated defense is in bolstering the journalistic institutions that keep constituents informed by facts and aware of the battles being waged by our constitutional protectors to defend our causes and ensure our livelihoods.

Public protests, though important in their expressions of awareness and discontent, will not “pay the bills” to keep our information infrastructure vibrant and whole.  This is normally the role of our government through the use of the taxes we pay.  Those funds are being usurped by an unconstitutional de-funding blitzkrieg and we must now be fleet on our financial feet and nimble with our keying fingers to fight back in force and in kind.
Rather than simply pledging another $100 per month on top of the $100 I’m already paying, OPB, my local public radio station, I will step outside of my comfort zone to provide a one-time expenditure of $2400 to help the immediate cause of countering the Dark Friday Rescission Decision.  $400 of that has gone to purchasing this domain and the balance has been contributed to OPB, Oregon Public Broadcasting. Future payments will be held at the ready.

I implore those of us who can to meet or exceed this amount.  My Big Boom rallying cry:

It's not enough until it feels like too much!

In this dire time of need for direct support of our non-profit public media organizations this is an important part of what we "boomers" can do to beat back ignorance, short of shedding our blood…or that of someone else.  We can only hope and/or pray that it does not come to that.  Let us instead make this a kind and gentle revolution that begins with our own mighty ...

BIG BOOM!

Any new contribution or donation you are inspired to make to a public media organization supports the Big Boom cause!

The 1.0 version of this website is 100% my own bargain basement effort crafted in hours and fueled by the hope I can do more than simply making my own contributions to the cause, then turning away from the carnage in the 1-ring circus that used to be our functioning 3-branch United States government.
If you see the sense in it, you may provide a financial contribution in any amount you choose to support my effort to spread the word and build a movement by crafting this website into a hub for change.  I aspire to enlist the help of others more proficient in such endeavors. You may use the link below for that purpose and any contribution of a dollar or more will add your name to the Big Boom membership roles.

Thank you!
